MCP integration

Connect Metamaps to AI

Read and edit the spots and events on your Metamaps maps from Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or Claude Code. There is no API key or per-map URL to manage. Sign in to Metamaps once and choose which maps and operations to allow.

Connect your AI client

Follow the path for the product you use. Both lead to the same Metamaps sign-in.

For chat apps

Claude or ChatGPT

Find Metamaps in the product's public directory and select Connect or Install. You don't need to enter an MCP URL, a transport, or OAuth client settings.

Metamaps won't appear in directory search until each product's review is complete.

Testing before launch, or using it within your organization

This alternative is only for administrators or developers who can create custom connectors. Register the URL below once as a custom MCP connection in the product, and choose OAuth with dynamic client registration as the authentication method.

https://metamaps.jp/mcp
  • Claude: Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector
  • ChatGPT: Turn on Developer mode, then register the public MCP URL on the Plugins creation screen

For coding agents

Codex or Claude Code

Paste the line below into Codex or Claude Code. The agent fetches only the commands its own product needs and registers the MCP server. You still see the usual command approval and OAuth consent.

Setup prompt
Fetch and execute the appropriate instructions to set me up for Metamaps from https://metamaps.jp/agent-setup/prompt.md

Want to see what the agent will run first? Read the published instructions in prompt.md.

Approve access

On the first connection, the Metamaps authorization screen opens in your browser. Sign in, then choose the maps the AI can use and the operations it can perform on each. Maps you don't select stay invisible to the AI.

Read
Look up spots and events. Included automatically when you allow Edit or Delete.
Edit
Create and update spots and events.
Delete
Delete spots and events. Only the map's administrators can allow this.

Only maps where you have the Editor role or higher are listed.

Start using it

Once connected, the AI first calls list_maps to see which maps it can use. Spots and events are read, created, and updated over the same connection. Before important operations, including deletions, the AI confirms the target map by name.

Change access later

Lower a permission or remove a map
In the admin console, open AI Settings and use the MCP card.
Raise a permission or add a map
Reconnect from your AI client and choose again on the authorization screen.
Revoke a connection
In the admin console, open the account menu at the top right and choose MCP connections.
